Solution for src\ error and maybe for blank screen exits

This has been discussed already, but since every now and then somebody starts a new thread about it, I thought I might just post it this way. The error message would, for example, look like this: src\loadsave.cpp(501) : File Error #11 or src\demo.cpp(437): File error #11 loading demo file header Thi...

A bit confusing...

Ah, this forum has just been made for me, suggestions! Ah, it's so new, at the moment it is just confusing. I will think about it some more. Two or three things already sprang at my eyes: 1. There already is a thread asking where the sticky to the ports info went, maybe it would be good to make anot...

Yes, what a pity. You can't have everything  ! But now you can make some new demos, can't you? Uh, I'm not sure, but I think it's possible.

Sure you can! Its just a text file, and its only needed for DOS emulation. I quote myself: It is just that the vdms settings get overridden by config.nt in your system32 folder. In this file, find the last line, which says "files=20" and change it to "files=40". Thats it! To be able to see this file...

blahblahblah error loading save file header
Well, usually this means config.nt in system32 folder has files=20.
Change it to files=40, and all should be well...hopefully!

Tried it again, seems to work fine now. I'd like to test it some more but RR is a real bitch when it comes to testing as it takes forever to exit the game properly See! When you posted your message today, I remembered RR, and wanted to play it again. So I dug out my cd, installed it, installed VDMS...

@demon: Mmm, sure? Due to the nature of dos4gw/dos32a I think that maybe the speed difference is in your head ;) A Dos Extender , as far as I understand it, is sort of a memory/interrupt manager for Protected Mode . I have to admit I don't unterstand it fully, but it seems to be pretty hairy busines...

Patience is a virtue. Sigh... Click me! On a side note, I am not a rat anymore! I am now a zombie ! Weee! More braaaaiiiins! @DeM0n: Blood 2 never crashes for me. You lucky bastard! I tried in Win98 with degraded Forceware drivers, updated it carefully and lovingly, but still... crash! boom! bang! N...

Right, I misunderstood that. So, instead of just giving you a download link, which would be rather boring, I now might give thee the power of knowledge: Advanced Google Hacking. First, the use of quotation marks is quite useful. So instead of typing object of desire in google, type "object of desire...

Alright, I don't know how to get that to work. I nobody else answers here, why not try it in Jonof's Forum?

As for Blood 2: I don't really care, maybe you have to get yourself a donkey, or rather a mule. Or was it called emule? Hint! Hint! Get it?

Well, I tried it, and it ran fine. But it ran fine before, and I couldn't see any speed difference. Maybe this is good for people where nothing else works?

Come on tell me the secret, and this whole cmd line and vdm short cut crap doesnt make sense its really confusing. 1. The secret is understanding. The build games are old . They run in DOS. There is no easy way. Sorry if I sound rude here, but it takes a lot of effort to get it run. Also i am looki...

Mmh. It could be just hardware related... When I had my old motherboard, there was no way I could ever play Blood in WinXp. With the new motherboard (well, it is not really new, but it is less buggy), I tried again out of boredom, and Bingo! it worked. Anyway, The value was already set to 40 just to...
