Internet Multiplayer Tools/Programs
Back in 1996-1998 there were many Internet Multiplayer Tools/Networks used to play Duke Nukem 3D & Blood on the Internet. Such programs are:
1. TEN http://www.ten.net/
2. DWANGO http://www.dwango.com/
3. ENGAGE http://www.engage.com/
4. HEAT http://www.heat.net/
5. KALI http://www.kali.net/
6. MPLAYER http://www.mplayer.com/
7. WIREPLAY http://www.wireplay.co.uk/
All of them are dead now. The only program that still works today for both Blood & Duke Nukem 3D is KALI. MPLAYER still exists but has changed it's name to GAMESPY ARCADE and only supports the nextgen games. I think I remember GAMESPY 3D used to support Blood & Duke Nukem 3D back in 1998, but not now. WIREPLAY also stopped support of Blood & Duke Nukem 3D and now only host game servers for the nextgen games.
My best bet is to use KALI as it supports all major games (new and old).
Also don't forget the new tools: http://www.freewebs.com/acrsetup/ & http://www.dukesterx.net/ .

Yes, am a dedicated Blood (& the Build series) games fan. I played Duke Nukem 3D on Wireplay back in 1997 and loved it. Blood, & Duke Nukem 3D were our favourates for our LAN gatherings back in those old days. However, all my friends don't play these games anymore and so haven't had any fans to play with.
I currently keep DukesterX running with Duke_w32 & JDuke waiting for hopeful challengers.
You don't have to pay to get Kali to work. You can run the trial version (need free registration for serial number).
The only problem I need to sort out is how to get Blood + VDMSound working with Kali (since I use WindowsXP). Blood works with VDMSound with the EMS and DPMI emulation. However I can't figure out how to make Kali start the VDMSound.
I'll keep everyone posted.

Re: Online Defmatchn
3 ways you can do this.Lord Molder wrote:Gudday kevingpo, what do i have to do to set up jonof Duke for online play and is a 56k connection enough
1. http://www.kali.net/ Download Kali and register for a serial number (it's free). Wait like 2-3 days for email. Once installed and setup, load it up and join the official Duke Nukem 3D chat server. Lots of others will be there to play with you.
2. http://www.dukesterx.net/ Download the FULL setup version. Install. Run. Browse/find your JDuke executable file. Then click join and wait for 5 seconds while it searchs for all current games. If you don't see any games, then try again later. If you never see any games within matter of 2 days, then post on the forums for advice.
3. http://www.freewebs.com/acrsetup/ This one requires you to know the IP address of another person playing the game.

Possible rejections might be caused by host not set enough max. players slots in his server. But try again with Dukester. Dukester is your best bet.And goto the Duke forums aswell! Community there sky high!Lord Molder wrote:I gave DuksterX a try and was rejected by the only server that was remotely alive.I guess ill give Kali a try but i dont have much faith in my nasty 56k connection,or will that not be an issue?
