Blood 2 doesn't run in D3D mode

This game only runs in software mode on my system:

CPU: Athlon 1800 XP - 1.6 GHz
SPU: on-board VIA VT8233
GPU: nVidia GeForce 6200
RAM: 512 MB
OS: Windows XP SP2

In hardware mode, everything is just black, except when I press Esc on the main menu, it briefly flickers on, and you can see the version number in the lower left.

Changing resolutions makes no difference.

I have patched it to 2.1.

Any idea what I can try?

Run in Windows 98

This game works perfectly in Windows 98. The video controller is not enumerated properly under XP, but it does detect properly in XP.

Since this game was so unpopular, they never fixed it for XP.

Good for me I have set up dual-booting.

I have the same problem and I think that the only way to play it is in software, I did the same I downloaded the version 2.1 but nothing, they should put a patch for nvidia 6200

Anything g-force and lithtech tend not to get along. Mine works for b2 but not for shogo- go figure.

disable v-sinc if you can find the setting for your graphics card.

enable everything in the advanced options on the loading screen.

bring down the console (~) and type maxframes 30 or 50 or 72
