Is it possible to use a gamepad with Blood?

When I run Blood it says 'gamepad not found'

I have the USB Microsoft Sidewinder gamepad. Windows XP knows what to do with it, but since it's plug and play there's no real "drivers" to teach DOS what to do with it.

Any options? Or must I adapt by using the keyboard and mouse?

Ive never played Blood with a joystick\pad so i have no personal experience with setting it up....but the link may help.
