Need help on XP - Duke Nukem 3D

Post by Nick123 » Mon Apr 18, 2005 10:01 pm

Hey,

I have a P4, with windows xp and everytime i start any of the games disscused on this site i get the following message

The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

But when I put the same games on my PII with Windows 98 it works fine.

How can I fix this problem. Please answers soon either here on the form or to nikola016@hotmail.com

Thank you in advance.

Autoexec.nt

Gudday, sounds like another deleted autoexec.nt prob.Go Into Windows, then Repair {the files of course} and copy the file Autoexec.nt,then simply paste it into your System 32 folder, and that should solve your problem.

Actually i re-read your post and you dont mention an install problem, thats what my previous post would fix.If you check that the file is in place {it can get deleted by some spyware n crap} and carefully follow the Build XP instructions {to the letter} you should get your Build game to run under XP.

You simply go to the file Windows {should be in your c: drive} then inside Windows is a file called Repair,go in there,COPY the file "Autoexec.nt" and then paste it into the System 32 file {also inside Windows} but you still havent said if your having trouble installing the game.

Well, I have two versions of the game

One is extracted, so i have all the files installed

The other requires me to run the installer which comes back with the same message as stated previously.

Oh yeah...

Hey i forgot that "config.nt" can go missing from system 32 folder so check if they are there and do the copy and paste thing i said before but using those files instead of autoexec.nt .
