One Whole Unit Blood Bug?

Hi all-
I have been playing Unit Whole Unit Blood on Windows XP and am loving it, with just one problem...
when I used to play Blood in DOS (back in the old days), the crawling hands that jump up and strangle you could be shaken off just by pressing the "enter" key (or open button).
Now, when I play the game on One Whole Unit Blood, this doesn't seem to work any more and when a hand strangles me, I can't shake it off and get killed every time! I press keys and buttons like crazy and the darn things won't come off!
Is this a bug that is exclusive to One Whole Unit Blood? Has anybody else noticed anything similar?
Please, if anybody knows, please let me know, or let me know how to fix this problem, it is driving me bonkers!
