Yesterday I followed every direction to the letter, now the game inexplicably won't run at all.
Here's what happens:
I double click on the shortcut on my desktop, and I get this error message:
"The VDMSound core program ‘dosdrv.exe’ could not be found. Please verify that VDMSound is properly installed, or that the VDMSPath environment variable points to the VDMSound directory. Do you want to continue?"
After I click 'yes', it starts to load: it finds the keyboard and mouse, and then poof, it just closes.
A little help here?

Have you tried Jonof's port: http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/index.php?p=jfsw
And here's DosBOX: http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1
If you wish to use DosBOX, make sure to press f12 a lot of times to increase cpu cycles and make the game faster.
